We'd like to introduce you to Mopar Connection (NZ) Incorporated, the nationwide Mopar enthusiasts' club based in the Lower North Island.
Mopar Connection was founded to foster a few simple interests and we knew there were quite a few Mopar owners in this part of the country who, like ourselves, felt under-represented in the existing club scene. In 1999 a few of us started getting together on a casual basis and we had been amazed how quickly that had escalated to some large club run attendances. It wasn't unusual to see 25 - 35 Mopars at a meet, and that's just by word-of-mouth!
Suddenly we needed to be able to organise and manage a schedule of events for a rapidly growing register - and thus Mopar Connection was born. We're all very enthusiastic about our Mopars and as a group we provide each other with an invaluable support network of parts and expertise.
Mopar Connection has its own quarterly magazine, which is member driven and offers our members the opportunity to write about their automotive adventures, buy or sell a Mopar, track down rare spares and of course find out details about the upcoming club events. NZHRA affiliated membership is also an option should you wish to join the strong contingency of existing members who compete at drags and other NZHRA sanctioned events. Otherwise you can simply join the rest of us and enjoy the picnics, displays and other events.
What do we do on a club "run"
This varies from month to month but typically we get together at a meeting point and then drive in convoy to a special destination. Sometimes this is around Wellington, up the coast or over into the Wairarapa. We put on club displays at A & P Shows or Charity events, or just go to a river or beach for a picnic. Not having clubrooms means we have to get creative with our meeting venues and are always very keen to hear any suggestions from members.
